Cricket Bat Preparation / Knock In
Price range: $65.00 through $75.00
Knocking in a cricket bat is a crucial step that significantly influences a player’s performance and the longevity of the bat. This process involves compressing the wood fibres, helping to create a more resilient surface that can withstand the impact of the ball.
Properly knocking in a bat ensures that it is ready for the rigors of match play, preventing the risk of cracking or splitting during crucial innings. It also enhances the bat’s ability to deliver optimal power and control, allowing players to play their shots effectively without compromising on safety.
Additionally, a well-prepared bat can improve the player’s confidence at the crease, knowing that their equipment is reliable. Investing time in this initial preparation can lead to better performance on the field and extend the life of the bat, making it a vital aspect of a cricketer’s routine. In essence, knocking in a bat is not just about protection; it’s about maximising potential and ensuring that the player can perform at their best.

Important Information
Preparation Time
To ensure your bat is prepared correctly, please allow 7–10 days for the knock in process to be completed.
This timeframe is important as it allows the raw linseed oil to fully penetrate and condition the willow fibres before the knock in process is completed. Allowing the oil to absorb properly provides the best opportunity for your bat to achieve optimum performance, durability and longevity.
Although every bat is professionally prepared, we still recommend gradually playing your bat in using good quality older cricket balls before using it in competitive matches. This allows the willow to continue compressing naturally and provides the best protection against premature damage.
Our Preparation Guarantee
Every bat prepared by Prenter Cricket is professionally assessed throughout each stage of the preparation process to ensure it leaves our workshop in the best possible condition.
While no cricket bat can be guaranteed against misuse, yorker damage or accidental impact, our preparation methods are designed to maximise your bat’s performance, durability and lifespan.
